Forever Hold Your Peace

about

The Thin Man has always been a storyteller, as much of one as any other member of the Facades. The stories he tells, however, are steeped in pain, loss, rejection, and religion. This is one of those stories, off of my upcoming album Electroshock Hearts & Immortal Ghosts, coming this December!

If you're interested in receiving regular updates about The Facades, send me an email! I send out newsletters with teasers, short stories, and behind-the-scenes stuff on the last Sunday of every month!

lyrics

Or forever hold your peace!

Don’t worry about broken vows no more
It’s all about the useless junk we had before
You claim to be the only one that moves me
Until another one walks by and you happen to see
Oh, dream weaver, you’re a beauty when you lie
When you dance around the issues like you aren’t afraid to die
So best put on our Sunday best until we fall apart
The glory in a dressed-up breaking heart

We’ll bury spite beneath our jewelry, and
Horns behind our halos just to prove
That even though we’re blessed, we’re damned to hell the same
So praise the congregation, they saw but forever held their peace

We were together once, trapped through obligation
Now I fear my train of thought hasn’t left the station
Twisting on the sacred rocks we gave each other
A blessing in disguise now turned to curse
A melancholic supernova warped into a cage
Another version thanks you for repressing all my endless rage
So raise your glass to thank the gods for interventions
But when your fate is spun I’ll cut the thread, but

We’ll bury spite beneath our jewelry, and
Horns behind our halos just to prove
That even though we’re blessed, we’re damned to hell the same
So praise the congregation, they saw but forever held their peace

We’ll bury spite beneath our jewelry, and
Horns behind our halos just to prove
That even though we’re blessed, we’re damned to hell the same
So praise the congregation, they saw but forever held their peace

about

The Facades Amherst, Massachusetts

The Facades is the solo project of a queer electronic music composer (she/they) who thinks consistent gender and consistent genre are for scrubs. The characters they portray take a front seat, with a witty lyrical edge to speak truth to power.
