Apocalypse On High

from Hindsight & The Poisoned Root by The Facades

/

about

So many things about all of our lives have fundamentally changed, and even on a personal level I started becoming a very different person. It feels dark now, no matter how much work we put into changing that. But hey, this album ain't over yet!

lyrics

When too much vision takes its
Toll on fragile minds
Or when fake happiness fills
Space like Auld Lang Syne
A time to put away our
Grievances no matter how they fare
But time can’t chase away the
Knowledge that some people never care

We lie awake, hearing
Bullets scream apocalypse on high, hearing
Rebels in in the echoing reply, and there’s a
Million miles between us, and a
Million ways to try, but we
Never had the confidence to
Break the feeling that the end is nigh

It’s been a year of reckless
Struggles to avoid the truth
But leaders choke on words
Presented as the proof
Resolute to lock away but
Baser instincts here to stay
There is no shame in coming
Out to play to fight for what we say

We lie in wait, hearing
Bullets scream apocalypse on high, hearing
Rebels in in the echoing reply, and there’s a
Million miles between us, and a
Million ways to try, but we
Never had the confidence to
Break the feeling that the end is nigh

We lie awake, hearing
Bullets scream apocalypse on high, hearing
Rebels in in the echoing reply, and there’s a
Million miles between us, and a
Million ways to try, but we
Never had the confidence to
Break the feeling that the end is nigh

about

The Facades Amherst, Massachusetts

The Facades is the solo project of a queer electronic music composer (she/they) who thinks consistent gender and consistent genre are for scrubs. The characters they portray take a front seat, with a witty lyrical edge to speak truth to power.
